About the plain ordinary day that Mol was surprised by Minne Minstreel

Mol wakes up every morning in his familiar surroundings. He has his own room containing his own things and his own rituals. One day that changes. Suddenly his room is filled with strange noises, what could it be? It is Minne Minstreel, an adventuress passing through, who has chosen Mol’s living room to take a break from her adventures.

ABOUT THE PLAIN ORDINARY DAY THAT MOL WAS SURPRISED BY MINNE MINSTREEL

Minne is an unusual girl, she has seen a lot of the world and is always curious about people and things she does not yet know. So she steps into the tidy house of Mol, who is startled by the sudden presence of this unknown girl. What should he do with this stranger in his familiar house with his familiar things?|

‘Hoe Mol op een doodgewone dag wordt verrast door Minne Minstreel’ is the first childrens piece from the new dance theatre company Rauher Engel based in Rotterdam. Rauher Engel’s performances are a freakish mix of dance, movement, play and acrobatics. They are characterised by lyrical sceneries, physical intensity and absurdity.

In the scenery of this performance Chittka creates images that appeal to the imagination and the ability of association that children have. Each stage setting has a strong visual expressiveness. They represent different worlds, for example a desert, a grass green hilly landscape or an ocean. In front of this dynamic background, Chittka places her characters Minne and Mol, who are themselves going through transformation and encountering.
